351. Theodore Niels Lange

Theodore was always called Tad or Ted Lange. Tad was born on afarm south of Callaway. Tad received his schooling at theCottonwood school commonly called the Lange school. He helpedwith the farming and cattle herding.He was united in marriage to Ethel Hendricks at the MethodistChurch in Callaway. To this union eleven children were born.Four of their children died as young children. Tad and Ethelwere divorced.In 1961 Tad married Cora Graham, they lived in Callaway but Tadcontinued to farm until 1972.He died in the Good Samaritan Home in Callaway and is buried inRose Hill Cemetery.


Ethel Florence Hendricks

Ethel was born at Broken Bow, Nebraska. She married Tad lange in1914 and eleven children were born to them.Ethel passed away at York, Nebraska and is buried in Rose HillCemetery, Callaway.


352. Andrew Lange

Andrew and Mabel lived for many years in the Seattle, Washingtonarea. Andrew was a welder and a industrial worker .


353. Lena Lange

Lena and Bert lived around Lexington, Nebraska. Bert put in theold Highway 30 from Overton to Cozad with horses. Lena wentwith him on the road and did the cooking for all the men. Shetook the children with her.


354. Julius Marius Lange

Julius Marius Lange was known as Pat Lange He was born nearCallaway where he grew up and attended Cottonwood school.Pat married Elva Jones on June 11, 1923 in Lexington, Nebraska.They farmed south of Callaway before moving to Kearney in 1951.He was the Star Route mail carrier from Kearney to Callaway andalso owned the Standard Service Station.Pat was a member of the 1st Luthern Church and a life member ofthe Kearney Elks Lodge #984.They had two sons, Vernon was killed in a car accident nearLexington at one year of age. Richard (Dick) is a pharmacist.He also had four grandchildren.Pat was a resident of North Platte after February 1993. Hepassed away in April of 1994 and is buried in Rose HillCemetery.


Elva O. Jones

Elva grew up and attended school in Callaway. She marriedJulius M. (Pat) Lange on June 20, 1923 in Lexington.They farmed in the Callaway area until moving to Kearney in1951. She moved to North Platte in 1993. She had two sistersand two brothers.She passed away in 1995 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.


514. Vernon Dean Lange

Vernon Lange was killed when his father's car and another carsideswipped each other on a bridge near Lexington. The Langecar overturned and the occupants were thrown out. Vernon, agedone year, died as a result of head injuries.


355. James Lange

James Lange, youngest son of Marius and Christiane Lange wasborn on a farm eight miles south of Callaway. His parentshomesteaded this farm and were building a new frame house atthe time of his birth. This was finished after his birth.On July 31, 1924 he married Flora Barker and they began theirlife together on a farm in the Redfern Community which was hishome at the time of his death.They had seven children, who were raised in Redfern Community.Here they went to school and to church. When the Redfern Churchburned James helped to build a new one.He passed away in the Callaway Hospital and is interned in RoseHill Cemetery.


Flora J. Barker

Flora was raised in the Callaway area and attended school inCallaway. She married James Lange at Norton, Kansas. Duringher married life they farmed in Custer County. After the deathof her husband, Flora moved to Lexington, Nebraska where sheworked at the Westside Care Home for 11and 1/2 years.At the time of her death, Flora had five children living,twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren andnumerous great-great-grandchildren.Flora is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.


515. Lillian Mae Lange

Lillian Mae Lange was known most of her life as Lily Mae orBabe.She grew to womanhood and attended Rural School District #223where on January of 1938 she suffered a fall that injured herbrain which made her handicapped for the rest of her life.Babe was lovingly cared for by Aunt Anna Chadd for as long asshe lived. After Anna's death, Babe was cared for at carehomes; first at Callaway and then in the last years of her lifeat Workman's Residential Home in Lexington.She is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway, Nebraska.


357. Julius Theodore Lange

Julius was born on a farm 10 miles South of Callaway and livedall his life in the same home. He assumed the responsiblity ofthe farm in 1920 on the death of his father.In 1925 he was united in marriage to Mary Montgomery of Ocontoand three sons were born to this union.He passed away at the age of 49, of a heart attack. He isburied in Rose Hill Cemetery.


Mary Ann Montgomery

Mary attended school in Oconto and in 1925 married Julius Lange.They lived on a farm south of Callaway until the death of herhusband in 1951. She then moved to Callaway where she worked ata hospital as a cook and later she was in the cafe business.In July 1957, she married Bert L. Russell of Brighton, Colorado.They lived in North Platte for a few years and then moved toOsceola. After retiring they spent the winters in Phoenix,Arizona. When Bert Russell died in 1982, she moved to RainbowTerrace in Grand Island where she lived until moving to theCallaway Good Samaritan Home. She passed away in March 1994 andis buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.


360. Sofus Julius Sorensen

Sophus and Helen had a farm near Albin, Wyoming.


361. Lena Sorensen

Lena was born in Lexington, Nebraska. She married William(Bill) Kopf in about 1916. They continued to live in Nebraskauntil 1918 when they moved to California. After Bill's deathin 1972, Lena continued to live in California near her son anddaughter, six grandchildren and several great grandchildren.In later life Lena changed her name to Beulah.


William Kopf

Bill farmed in Callaway until 1918 when he moved to Californiato work in the shipyards. He had a father, two sisters and abrother living in California at that time.In 1933 or 1934 Bill and Lena and their two children Louise andNorman, travelled by train to Detroit, Michigan, to takepossession of a new Buick automobile, which they drove back toCalifornia. They attended the Chicago Exibition and then wentto Nebraska to visit relatives.They came to visit Tad and Ethel Lange one afternoon. Harold andIvan had built a two wheel cart out of a cultivator frame. Ithad shaves, so it could be pulled by one animal. They owned avery gentle jenny mule which they liked to drive the cart. Sothey hitched up jenny and went to get the mail. The cart ridewas a big hit with their 'city cousins'.


Glen Taylor

In about 1934, Glen and Julia moved to Callaway and Glen openeda bakery. When Harold Lange entered high school in 1935 hedrove to high school in Callaway, his folks would send eggs,milk and cream to the Taylors and in return the Taylors wouldsend back bundles of bakery goods.In the fall when cattle were rounded up and driven to Callawayto be sold to the U.S. Government for $5.00 per head, some ofthe boys would have to stay in town to look after the cattleand horses. Early in the morning they would go the the bakery,because they knew that Glen went to the bakery at 3:00 A.M. andGlen would make coffee and feed them sweet rolls, doughnuts andwhatever else was in the bakery.In 1939 they sold the bakery and bought a pool hall in Arnold.When they left Arnold they went to Sidney, Nebraska where Glenworked in a munitions plant until the end of WW2. Later theyleft Nebraska and spent their remaining years in Arizona.
